SGPD and VCU
« on: August 05, 2008, 05:28:39 PM »
I was watching SGPD's mirza segment, and I happened to notice that the choreography had the same steps to the mirza segment that VCU did, and to the same song. I don't want to start anything, I mean I have respect for both teams. Is this the exact way that traditional mirza should be done?

there are sooo many different ways of doing Mirza...I think its just coincidence that they did the same way, formations were still different though.

mirza will always look similar since the beat is the same...if you watch india teams doing mirza you'll notice that part of the routine usually consists of the same moves.  a good way to explain it would be using phumania as an example, you can't say one team copied another team's phumania...it's just the proper way to do the move

yeah shaan e did phumania to surma at groundshaker 06 and heeray did it as well in 08

and to add to that there are only a handful of mirza songs so it was bound to happen

if vcu or sgpd created their own exclusive move for mirza that does not pertain to the many ways mirza is executed, then I can see where these two videos might be an issue, but it is not the case.

I got what you guys are saying, and bro Sharukh I guess that makes alot of sense that there are only a handful of mirza songs, but like with phumania you can have different variations of the steps ya know.....what I mean is really that like the steps in mirza can be rearranged too, it doesn't have to be the exact same 32 count.....right or wrong?

Oh snap. I never relized that.

Something like Mirza is hard to be creative with. Its hard to watch everyteam that does mirza (or phumnia jugni etc.) and make sure u remember what they did and don't do the exact same thing. There was no "jacking" or anything like that intended from either team. I'm sure about that

Ya, Vic pretty much said it, with Mirza there isn't much creativity and no jacking from either team.

Well you can get creative with Mirza but only to a certain extent. When your doing live theres a lil more freedom in the sense you can play with the beats a little. but for music yeh it definitely is harder since again songs are very rare to come across that are usable at a competition.
