« on: July 24, 2010, 02:53:28 PM »
I like watching documentaries and was just wondering if theres any you guys think are good. I like sports documentaries ( primarily basketball and mma) but ill watch pretty much anything.

Ive seen cocaine cowboys ( really really good), the st vincent-st mary high school basketball team ( lebron james one), the frank shamrock, ken shamrock, choke (gracie), the music industry exposed ( illuminati in music), and hoop dreams...plus a bunch of other randoms

any suggestions?

ken burns is probably the greatest documentarian. his civil war doc is amazing. also, he did a 9 part series called Baseball which is my favorite. recently he did one on the black boxer jack johnson, and one on the national parks.

another interesting documentary that deals with sports is 'bigger, faster, stronger'. its about use of performance enhancing drugs and what they really are.

bigger faster stronger is incredible. also, tyson will give you a totally different worldview on iron mike. food inc will make you change the way you eat. the cove is something i have not seen yet but is on my list. the carter about lil wayne will make you admire his work ethic. and man on wire is just simply perhaps the greatest documentary ever made; there is a reason its at 100% on rotten tomatoes.

Basketball:

Sonicsgate

Quantum Hoops

Black Magic

Hooked

Soul in the Hole

I heard good things about the Bias and Iverson 30 for 30 episodes but I haven't seen them. Telfair's documentary from a few years back is supposed to be worth a watch too.

Miscellaneous:

Street Fight

The Thin Blue Line

Streetwise

Harlan County, USA

The "Up" Films

Depending on your taste & political/economic views/biases, you may want to check out stuff like The Fog of War, Hearts and Minds, The War at Home, Enron: The Smartest Men in the Room, Startup.com, and The Corporation.

bigger faster stronger is incredible.

Watched it last nite, definitely something everyone who has an opinion on the steroids issue, should watch.

the carter about lil wayne will make you admire his work ethic.

This clip made me laugh
Lil Wayne For President

Foreel though, weezy has great work ethic
"I aint got time for sex, jus music, music, music, and money"

And for those of you who havent seen Kobe's "Doin' Work" should watch it. All this Kobe hatin' ya'll do, when you see his work ethic, it'll slap you back to reality and show you why he's the best.
