A mirror.

amen. the dancers need to be able to see themselves, especially their "form," so that they can catch their mistakes and improve their technique. also, like everyone else said, dedication is pretty key; you can't get much done with people who aren't really willing to put the effort in. you can have vic as captain, raju AND sheru as dholis, nj uncle on the algozey, and pappi gill on the vocals...if the team doesn't want to put the time and effort in, they won't get anywhere.

I disagree on the comment about having a mirror to look at while dancing... While this would prove as a benefit, my team and I found it a negative as we would get used to having a mirror in front of us, to correct ourselves, when in fact on stage you won't get anything of the sort... What we did was record every practice session, and then go back and watch the videos while mentally noting improvements... We found this to be a hugeeeee help and was very positive... Again, every team has their own style of cleaning up, this was what worked for us...

Friendship.

A team who performs good is nothing if they don't love each other

LOTS OF TIME!

u can be the best team in the world, but if you only have half hour to spare a day for bhangra.. it will reflect on your final set performance

Videotaping is a great way, but I disagree with your thoughts on mirror mirror on the wall. Kids start out using tricycles even though the end result is only two wheels. A mirror is not only used to correct yourself in the moment, but also to reinforce a certain way of performing, smiling and executing steps. You do it enough in front of a mirror and you'll be able to do it easily without a mirror as well.

Chemistry ....

the more chemistry you have as friends and teammates the better your performance becomes.  Im not talking just about chemistry at practice but outside of practice.  If team members hang outside of practice, and are friends outside of bhangra and what not it shows up.  Interactions on stage and 10x better, nakhre and all.  Plus everyone enjoys themselves that much more.

but I disagree with your thoughts on mirror mirror on the wall

I respect your viewpoint... As I stated, every team has their own "formula" if you will... My brother and I, along with a few team mates would practice in front of a mirror at home during personal time to help shape up proper form and expressions, but not in a practice environment... I found with a mirror you would be too distracted not only by what you're doing, but by watching other members as well... Without the mirror, your mind would get better "practice" on memorizing the routine...

Again, I respect your viewpoint, and am glad the mirror technique works for you and your team  :)

agreed- every team has their own style. the mirror's worked for my team the best, however, before we had access to that, the videotaping was what worked for us. as long as the people on the team have some method to help them correct themselves, as you and Kinnell said.

Having the same mindset as your teammates. If half of you are doing it just for fun and the other half want to win at any cost, your team will fall apart. If half of you want to be modern and the other half want to be traditional the team will fall apart.
