I am for separation of genders. Why?Girls and guys are different. There are physical differences between the two. I have heard how awkward it is for girls to slap their thighs and curl their mustaches when choreography requires them to. It's NOT a matter of equality. It's NOT that girls can't do bhangra as well as guys - they just execute it differently and there is nothing wrong with that. There is a reason why almost every sport has separation of gender. If a competition can handle it, there should be a separate category for Girls, Guys and Co-ed. This would make life much easier for judges as well because there are less variables to judge on. Often times, we limit our definition of what bhangra truly is by idolizing an all-guy team with dancers aged from 16-24. A bhangra performance performed by an all-girl team, a toddler team or a team of deaf dancers will still be bhangra, but it will simply be executed differently and that is perfectly fine. Girls need to stop trying to imitate guys when it comes to bhangra and do what comes naturally to them. Once again, let me emphasize that this separation of genders is NOT because one gender is handicapped when compared to another, rather far from it. It's because guys and girls are different (even in vardiyan). SEGREGATION of GENDERS! SEPARATE CATEGORIES for GUYS and GIRLS! SEPARATE AFTERPARTIES for GUYS and GIRLS! SEPARATE BATHROOMS for GUYS and GIRLS!
