I have noticed that there are fewer and fewer punjabi girls that are able to cook punjabi food. At the same time, I have seen an increase in girls doing bhangra. Correlation=causation.
I am a douche.

There's also another thing called that girls also have new priorities, and learning to be house wife doesn't exactly top the list now. And correlation and causation are two completely different things. Its great if you want to observe that and some how think the two events are correlated, but I think there's other reasons for why girls can't cover a table with a bunch of dishes (too busy working/at school/fast-food, they don't want to learn?).

Sorry to deviate from the topic, but my opinion. I don't see whats wrong with a separate category for the women. They have them in just about every major sport. But i think that girls and guys execute a lot differently, and what they bring on stage is completely different. Even if they are being judged by the same rubric as the guys, judges have their own expectations from the girls that aren't on the rubric.

And also, if you were given a situation where a guy team and girls team performed extremely well like its basically a tie, the only thing that would set them apart is probably the "guy" or "girl" elements they put into the routine. And then you'd be left with a case of well was the whole kabaddi thing better than the whole fulkari/charka scene (extreme example for the moment)? But thats not something that it should come down to when deciding who was better. Unless, we got rid of creativity that was presented in that way..then that might be different.

Parul, pretty sure he was kidding about the correlation=causation thing?

It's okay, Parul. It was about time.

Each of these threads has a token dude make a sarcastic comment and a token chick freak out about it. I was getting worried that this time would be different :)

i feel like girls should be put in same category as guys, especially because its not like girls teams do giddha or anything, we are all doing the same style pretty much. i think putting girls up against girls and guys up against guys helps the judging go equally in a sense? because there will always be a judge who favors guys teams over girls, and then there might be judge saying that 3 guys teams shouldnt place so an all girl team should take one of the placings, even if all the guys teams were better, and vice versa.

so yeah, they should be in the same category, but i still feel like problems will come out of it.
