No more than 10 to 9 inch for the Turla....aggey thuadi marji bai ;] and you can starch it with Rice flour. Its really simple. Here are the details:
1. go get the rice flour from a Hatti near you. lol

2. get the Chaa wala pateela from your house or ask your ammi to get you one.

3. add 1 1/2 glass of water. " koi vi normal glass hovey"

4. apna Chulla jaa stove ON kar dayi.

5. add the rice flour into the pateela. a pound or so, maybe half.

6. You gonna need a chamcha(spoon) N' with that chamcha, you gonna keep on khurrching...jiddan tu tadka laa reha aa. lol

7. Keep on khurrching until it looks like "khraa". you probably have seen "khrraa parshaad" right? at the gurughar???

8. so when the water is all dried up in your pateela, it should look like "khraa". if you dont know wat that means, go ask your ammi.

9. take it out of the pateela with a spoon....you dont wanna burn your hands, so gotta be careful mate. chamcha will come in handy in this situation.

10. get a big pateela...where you probably have made "kukkarr or bakra" or watever. ya...get a big pateela.

11. that starch stuff you just made, add it to the pateela and add more than half glass of water.

12. *this is where things r gonna get interesting......so pay attention!!!

13. hope you have added water N' the starch you just made into your big pateela or watever you have.

14. have you ever played with Mud(mitti) when you were a neyaana or bacha? if you haven't then too bad.

15. so anyways, you have mix it up now!!! make it like a strawberry shake or a vanilla shake...watever you like but make it patla. not make it too patla that it would look like a lassi...noo noo...that will mess it up.

16. so after you have all the above ideas done....get your paggs N' measure about 9 inch N' tie a rubber-band or rassi..or watever u have..teri marji aa.

17. that 9 inch kaprra of the pagg.....ohnu pateeley vich paa......think it like you washing your kachha or suit or jo vi marji. so think it like that though.

18. after you have done that....hun bas tu ohnu "nachhorr" like rinse or something. idk dude...ask your mom, i guess. but "nachhorr" for sure k.

19. hun remove that rubber-band N' pagg apni "sukni" paa dayi kitey......dry it for a day until it's all dried up..N' if you a Vehla insaan, use a blow-dryer, ok?

20. bas yaar...i guess thats too much info. hope you have a better understand of "how to starch a pagg". for me its just too easy but idk about you. so good luck bai-G

now ill summarize that essay up there ahah (A) basically all i do is

2 cups of normal water or (16 ozs) or w.e 8-)
4 spoons of rice flower
mix it into a pateela until u cant see da white powder
boil mix erry here and there onces it looks liek a paste take da pagh usually about 10-12 inchs and just put it on like rub it on and then squeeze da acess off wen da whole pagh is gilli

den let it dry in like yur basement or something and yu good to go:), and make sure wen its drying dont touch it to see if its hard leave it over nite and also make sure da bottom of da pagh is a st8 line like where its starched cuz couple times it wusnt st8 and thas how da turla turned out

You can speak Punjabi, YAYAYAY.

I understood it because I know the process and I can understand bits and pieces of Punjabi, but son, what was accomplished with random words like kappra (cloth) and baccha (kid) being in Punjabi? You are capable of writing in English. All this does is alienate those in the bhangra community who do not speak Punjabi and all of your very admirable hard work goes to waste. It's just a suggestion.

hahaha...Not gonna lie, romanized Punjabi is so hard to decipher sometimes since it changes from person to person...but I'm biased since I learned "classroom" Punjabi ahaha
