aight sounds good to me (ill just give em a plastic bag filled w/ummm 4+8+(4*4)=28 pins)

i think you just simplified it too much...
you never know what would happen. Give them a little box of 50....for the hell of it.

i dont think grown ass men need eyeliner to bring out their eyes navjit loll ive actually seen these dudes close up who wear surma. they look like gothic emo bhangra dancers or something. Really unappealing. Im sure it looks cute on little kids or something.

The best is when guys do it for a performance and can't get it off completely after the show, so you have all these guys walking around with remnants of eyeliner at the afterparty. Apparently it happens at raas competitions all the time.

Girls - Pencil in your eyebrows

Unless you already have nice, dark eyebrows, pencil yours in a bit w/ a eyebrow pencil so they are really visible and clear.  Eyebrows are a huge part of expression.

HAHAHA...I think most desi girls should have dark eyebrows, since most have dark hair...right?
its true in a funny way =) make sure its not too dark...that will look scary

thanks for the vid jasmeet, too bad the video only shot that one angle for the most part, it would be sick if someone had a similar vid as to the one sgpd did for front turla's haha

hahahah keep away from the sharpies!!! no chola status allowed!!

for the girl who tried using elastic and couldn't get it to work: you really have to use the least amount possible. i used a little less than the size of my waist and unfortunately for me that was too much elastic and i almost pantsed [sp?] myself onstage..... so now, i use roughly the size of both of my hands together to make an "O" shape which is about a 14/15 inch circumference. it's hella better cause it stays on snug and it's not uncomfortable. but sometimes when you jump it might move up a little bit but it always falls back into place. i also pin the bottom a little so it doesn't get caught under my foot, it doesn't effect the outfit's aesthetics in my case because the pleats still fall the same.

for my parandi i have crazy layers so they stick out of the braid and i use a combination of bobby pins, gel, and hair ties to tame it. i also pin my parandi to my outfit so it doesn't move around while i'm dancing. once, i forgot to pin it down and when i was going into a squat, it hit me in the face. not fun... another time, i think it was at socal this year, somehow the mirror part of my parandi [the decorative part all the way at the bottom] got stuck to my earring and wouldn't come off..hella awk... so make sure you pin those down!!

for makeup, we like to have a uniform look to our makeup so i usually do the makeup for all the girls. if we're pressed for time we just do our own. also, we like our stage makeup to look bright so you can see it on stage and we too use bronzer as well as a blush for color. we also use this hella ugly lipstick that makes me feel like a mermaid but apparently looks good..

question: how do you all wash your outfits? we handwash cause we dont know what the machine will do to them...

I don't think we've ever washed or cleaned our outfits (apart from paggan) for any team I've been on.

Really....wouldnt it have a slight odor to it?

well since we have silk, I put it in with washer on gentle cycle.
even with my normal shalwar kamiz(all types of material, with light work done on it), i just put them in washer...no damage done.

ahhh yes the odor...a mix between the smell that comes along with indian gooods and just straight up nasty swamp status..

its disgusting...what would lazy all guys teams do without a little febreeze?

Advantage to co-ed: Have the girls wash them.. (blatantly sexist statement and a joke)

you have to wash the puggan for sure...especially when you first get them.

i dry-cleaned my most prized performance salwar, just to be super safe.  other costume kurtas my mom washed on "delicate" in the machine and wash them alone.  anyone else?

that's sick i would wash my vardiyaan every 2-3 wears, they get all sweaty and nasty.  at least the kurtas!  unless boys wear short-sleeve undershirts under (do you?) then i guess maybe they wouldn't really need to.

Yeah, we wear undershirts, but the kurtas still get pretty stanky.  We only wear our outfits a handful of times, and then we generally end up getting new ones the next year.
