I won't disclose the person's name but I had once heard a wise man in the bhangra circuit say --"girls that can dance bhangra better than guys can are hot as hell" -- this guy loved having a girl kick his ass on the dance floor with Daru Pi Ke, Mele Vich, or Putt Jattan De playing....priceless...you know who you are  ;)

And yeah, I hear you on that about Canada's girls wearing chadre. It quite goes against the stereotype that canadian teams tend to be more modern.

Canadian teams tend to be more modern ? ? Since when is that a stereotype lol

And a traditional bhangra vardiyan includes a chadar.  It makes sense if girls dancing bhangra want to wear chadray.

I was the one who originally commented on Canadian teams as being more traditional, and I think that's what GSingh was responding to.

I am puzzled by it because a chadra is a mens garment, and with vigorous movement, you get some leg action (with the understanding that a perfectly tied one shows little if anything). Given the figure of the "traditional Punjabi woman" you don't want a woman's legs to be seen, less the entire tehsil think she's a two-rupee ho. In this light, I would think that a more "traditional" Punjabi community would rather see their women in salwaars or ghugre, rather than a piece of clothing that has only been worn by men historically (as far as I understand).

Would you make the same argument for the bhangra pagh?

I couldn't agree with this more...
Because bhangra is joy unbounded.
