Since Bruin Bhangra is now over which usually marks the end of the bhangra season, I was wondering what do you guys think of this past season?

It was a solid season, but I think it just shows whats to come..... because of how many competitions there were this season, we got to see tons of up and coming teams that will bode well for next year. It seems as though you can go to a competition pretty much anywhere and expect the bar to be set absurdly high. Back a couple years ago, there were only a few juggernaut bhangra teams, which were always picked as favorites at every competition, no longer. Due to forums like this, the culture and more importantly the tradition are becoming more widespread....When I came in freshmen year, the most successful teams were those teams that were already established that had a constant flow of dancers coming through that were learning from each other. Now, its a completely different story, I don't see an end in sight...loved this season, but can't help but loook forward...

I personally thought that this season was pretty intense
it was surprising to see how much the teams have improved this season
also how the teams are more about traditional Bhangra and people now understand what bhangra is all about
few i remember just from top of my head were SGPD VCU Drexel HPD and so on

the cons were that it was upsetting to see teams dropping out from the competitions
couple competitions being rigged
also teams who were all about the hype lol
competitions not being organized too well
also how the judges used POL to judge at competition thought that was too much
and the teams going on POL and arguing how they should have won this and that even though the teams were right about what they were saying but that was POL glad to have BTF
this season had alot of drama hahaha

overall it was good

sorry about the essay dn't realize haha have fun

Yeah i totally agree i mean teams are stepping it up all over and there is a new wave of teams..i guess you could say like a new generation of teams..Then again there are the older teams who are still rockin it to this day

This was one intense bhangra season...cant wait till next season ;D

There was so much going on this year. A lot of huge improvements, and a few disappointments. New teams stepped up, and older ones didn't do much.

Pros-
1) SGPD's season, honestly I loved every performance and I can't wait for next year
2) VCU winning 1st at blowout, it was long deserved and it happened in a big way. You won 1st and people's choice
3) The team mixes from everyone have dramatically improved! Wow! Now everyone wants each others' mixes. It used to just be Soormay and Sher mixes that everyone wanted, now...MOST teams are stepping up to the plate and making solid mixes.
4) New teams are stepping up in a big, and should have a good season

Cons-
1) Teams kept dropping out of competitions. Look at Bruin, the teams everyone wanted to see compete...just dropped. I'm sure they had a reason for it, but still...it kills the spirit of a competition
2) Too many poorly run competitions. As someone stated somewhere (i know, it's vague), there have been more competitions everywhere, but from what they say, they sucked ass. They need better organization

I'm sure i have a few more Pros and Cons...
but overall...solid season. I would've liked to have seen more from United, KJ (beyond JUST VIBC), Gabroo Shokeen, Nachdi Jawani (should have come down to the US for stuff), PPA, and other teams.

These guys competed in a few things, but more would've been nice I guess. I really like those teams, just more...that's all.

I would have to say that 2007 - 2008 season was one of the best season I've been apart of, and seen. Every competition we went to was organized and respectful. Even though we were unhappy with some results, we've come to learn that you can not win them all and hard work really pays off.

One thing that really stood out about this season was the fact that even if our team wasn't competing in competitions we still felt a part of it. Every team that competed brought somethign new, which ment that every single team would have to try to top whatever that team did. Everyone was in constant competition even if they were just watching a video.

Everyone will be stepping their game up one moe level for next season. It will be amazing!
