« on: July 22, 2010, 01:25:22 PM »
I just got sum saaps in today, and they are kinda stiff....how can i loosen them, other than just working them in.  I've been reading sum old posts saying to use sarron da tail.  What other options are there? What have sum of you guys done in the past?

1. Saaron da Tail, or honestly any tail, or even WD-40...you don't need to be folk when you lubricate wooden objects, jeez.
2. Bend the saaps towards yourself and away from yourself while they are fully open...make sure you bend them slowly so as not to chip any riveted joints.
3. Use them...when we got our saaps last season they were so stiff and shitty, by the end of the season they were money.

one more question, does stain (like regular wood stain) create issues with the joints of the saaps, i wanna give em a bit of a shine too lol

it shouldn't create issues. though i dont know for sure.  but if ur tryin to make it shine, idk how it would mess with the joints

Well i think a little bit of oil doesnt hurt on stained saap if they have lost their "newness" but otherwise i would think you will need a lot of oil to polish ur saap. Personally i just buff mines with car wax and it looks brand new or use a wood polish for hardwood flooring. But thats just me.
