Automatic Tempo Change in Acid? ((Swi where you at?!?))
« on: March 03, 2010, 12:49:09 AM »
i been wonderin this for years...clearly you can put a tempo change in acid and you can put a few every couple beats to make songs transition...BUT, is there anyway i could take a fast song (136 bpm) and have it "automatically" decrease the tempo down to 0 (dead silence) within a few seconds, sorta like its possible to do with actual DJ equipment?

if anyone knows id appreciate it

swi im lookin atchu for this one!!

there is in acid 7 for sure. you have to set two tempo markers. like if you're going from 120 to 0 set one at 120 where you want it to start changing, set another one where you want it to end, if you go edit the first marker, change the thing i think its called transition type? change that from hold to smooth or slow or whatever you want to. To set the second marker to 0 i think you're going to have to go in options and change what the lowest tempo you can set is...  I believe default is set to 65. Let me know if that makes sense or i will screen shot for ya

ak u could put the screen shot up but i got ya
lemme see if i can reword this...

1) where u want ur tempo drop to start, put a tempo change marker there (by hitting the letter "T")
2) where u want ur tempo drop to end, put a tempo change marker there (again, by hitting "T")
***put the preferred tempo you want it to be after the drop..65 is lowest***
3) on the BEGINNING (step 1) marker, right click on the to of the marker, click "Edit...", then Transition type (i used fast)

done.  :)

hey all sorry for late reply, here's my feeling on this:

1) as far as I know, you cannot use tempo markers as 40bpm is lowest value (even when you go into options it's only 40 to like 300 i think?). For mixes at like 120 bpm this is actually usually ok to slow it down and just fade out the last beat or two or something (it feels super slow). But not ideal

what's the solution? VST!!!

theres a lot of vst plugins out there to do this. I have "tapestop" for real-time slowing down if i'm recording shit. I have this other thing called "glitch" by illformed. It's a very powerful (but complicated) vst as it can do a lot of stuff like tapedown, synth, shuffle, reverse, delay, stretch just a really really cool vst

i posted zip as i cant post dll to btf

tutorial

also the standard is to put the song into virtual dj, record the session mess around and import into acid pro. But use glitch, it's worth it :)

if you want to artificially create that effect in acid, u can simply cut the piece into several pieces, and while in addition to using tempo markers, u can keep pitch shifting each piece down until its so low that it basically seeems like you would turn it off...add a scratch or wind down sound effect on the top of the last piece...and it will artificially create that wind down sound.
